Jonathan D. Primack, MD

As a cornea, cataract and refractive surgery specialist, Dr. Primack has devoted his professional life to helping patients improve their vision through LASIK, PRK, cornea transplants, cataract removal, lens implants and other refractive surgery methods. His patients are amazed at the miracle of improved vision that occurs with the use of these modern surgical techniques.

When he is not in the operating room or examining patients, Dr. Primack spends a significant amount of his time reading, writing, and talking about issues affecting the cornea. Dr. Primack ensures he provides the most up-to-date, effective LASIK and refractive surgical care to patients by regularly:

• lecturing and participating at major ophthalmologic conventions
• publishing and reading articles in the most highly-respected ophthalmology journals
• participating in online medical forums, and
• handling complex LASIK cases referred to him by other ophthalmologists

Prior to joining the Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania, Dr. Primack served for five years as the Director of Refractive Surgery and a member of the Cornea Faculty for the North Shore – LIJ Hospital System, a major academic medical center in Long Island, New York. While there, Dr. Primack specialized in LASIK, PRK and other refractive techniques, delicate cornea transplant surgery, and especially difficult corneal problems. He held the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Primack is a respected member of the Reading Hospital Medical Center. He takes a great interest in teaching and often gives lectures and Grand Rounds presentations. He has taught many young ophthalmologists how to perform complex eye surgery.

Dr. Primack is a native of Long Island. He attended college at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, where he graduated magna cum laude. He continued on at the Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks in the top 5 medical schools in the United States. After completing an ophthalmology residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, Dr. Primack was named a recipient of the national Heed Foundation Fellowship, a top distinction among ophthalmologists pursuing advanced fellowship training. He received his Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship training at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Primack is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
